Sanametrix developed a nationwide data collection application to ingest, validate, and report on key education and civil rights issues in our nation's public schools. CRDC is the largest elementary/secondary data collection at the US Department of Education (ED) and collects up to 1,800 data points for each of the nation’s more than 115,000 public schools. Our development team included application, database, design, QA/QC, and usability experts. This complex application utilized our proven Agile methodology prioritizing and incorporating end-user, project sponsor, systems administrator, team member, and CRDC domain expert feedback throughout each sprint. We also created a continuous integration environment to automate CRDC software code quality and system check measures.
As a full-featured and performance-optimized application, CRDC was the highest performing application developed utilizing an Agile Scrum methodology at ED. Our Development Team streamlined the development and integration of complex requirements during peak CRDC processing demands and subsequent data visualization requirements. This ultimately provided ED with more than $2M cost savings in technology expenditures, while providing critical real-time insight into data collection performance and key CRDC data reporting baselines.
CCD-DMS is the central collection, analytic, and reporting tool for the U.S. Department of Education’s (ED) Common Core of Data. CCD-DMS collects, edits, and reports on administrative data for the nation’s public schools. Our Agile Development Team includes application, database, design, QA/QC, and usability experts. CCD-DMS is utilized by a team of data analysts to produce this foundational administrative data collection. Sanametrix successfully transitioned ED from legacy Waterfall baselines to an Agile Scrum methodology, enabling critical collaboration and transparency throughout the development process.
CCD-DMS provides ED with a central repository of CCD data that is longitudinally maintained and provides version control for all modifications. Our Agile Scrum methodology allowed Sanametrix to mature CCD’s legacy iterative requirements development process. As a result, our Agile Development Team worked with CCD data analysts to better understand complex functional and non-functional requirements. Our tool increased analytic capability while maintaining strict control over business rules. It also improved data quality through repeatable data validations and reduced the time required to publish data files.
